
Panaji: Opposition leader Yuri Alemao, speaking after the Independence Day celebrations, criticized the practice of only holding talathis accountable for instances of hill cutting, stating that these violations are often perpetuated in collaboration with politicians. Alemao called for action to be taken against the politicians involved in these unlawful activities, particularly in the real estate and TCP sectors. He also expressed disappointment in the government's failure to address the rampant hill cutting occurring in Goa, asserting that corruption is prevalent within the administration. Alemao highlighted concerns about the escalating drug trade in the state and criticized the Chief Minister for not addressing these issues during the recent assembly session. He emphasized the need for police to crack down on drug-related crimes and expressed distrust in some officers who may be involved in illegal activities.
